Top Priorities from the Community:
Lighting for Safety
· Add solar lights like those at the skate park
· Improve visibility in early morning/evening hours
Water Improvements
· Dog bone–shaped, push-button water feature
· Explore splash pad options
· Add faucet & hose at water bowl area for easier cleaning
· Install shaded dual-use water fountain (human & dog)
· Fix mud issues with better surfacing
Washing Station Enhancements
· Add hand sanitizer dispensers
· Improve and enclose the current wash area
Restroom Request
· Provide porta-potty with a portable handwashing station
Parking & Access Needs
· Create second entrance with double gate
· Use nearby county parking lot
· Fill culvert area to expand parking along drainage ditch
Maintenance & Mowing
· Eradicate sticker grass (suggested: high nitrogen fertilizer)
· Post mowing schedule so toys can be collected in advance
· Mow with bagging to reduce reseeding
· Repair fence where needed
· Add park maintenance to community service opportunities
Seating & Shade
· Keep movable chairs
· Install benches in the open field
· Plant shade trees around park perimeter
· Move watering station to shaded area or add canopy
Trail & Play Area
· Add a crushed granite or concrete walking trail around the park
· Install climbable features like boulders or ramps
· Consider adding a mechanical greyhound rabbit along the fence
· Keep all new features in existing play zone
· Community prefers no playground or separate “mini dog” area
Honoring Pets & People
· Install custom bricks/pavers for dedications
· Suggested location: under or near the water feature
Park Signage & Name
· Maintain natural stone and cedar style signage
· Keep the name: Bastrop Bark Park
Volunteers Welcome!
· High school volunteer programs encouraged
· Add maintenance tasks to municipal community service
