Department Mission Statement

 

'The City of Bastrop’s Public Works Department is dedicated to providing essential infrastructure and services that enhance the quality of life for our community. Through the responsible management of streets, drainage, and Fairview Cemetery, we ensure public safety and sustainability. Department Responsibilities

 

STREETS - pothole patching, crack sealing, curb & sidewalk repairs, utility cut repairs, sign maintenance, striping/pavement markings, traffic studies and street sweeping.

 

DRAINAGE - mowing, weed-eating, tree maintenance, herbicide application, trash/debris removal, storm drain pipe/grate maintenance.


CEMETERY - daily maintenance involving mowing, weed-eating, tree maintenance, trash removal.

 

MISCELLANEOUS - we use multiple contractors for various concrete repairs/replacements, mowing/weed-eating/tree maintenance/trash removal along highways & gateways, storm drains/grates/out-fall repair/replacement, and pavement surface treatments for preventative maintenance.

  • In what areas does the Public Works Department work in?
    The Department maintains the pavement, curb, certain sidewalks, storm drains, Right-of-Ways, certain drainage easements, certain City-owned easements, and certain City-owned property.

 

  • Where do I inquire about the possibility of requesting speed bumps on my street, or in my neighborhood?
    All inquiries regarding speed bumps must be directed to the Bastrop Police Department.

 

  • How do I go about requesting a new/temporary water meter?
    All water-meter requests must be directed at the Water/Wastewater Department.
