The Bastrop Fire Department is a combination department responsible for providing fire protection services to over 10,000 residents within the 9 square miles of the city limits. The Department has 1 fire station that runs an average of 1,200 calls annually. Bastrop Fire Department promotes fire prevention and education, responds to fire, medical and rescue calls.

Education Requirement:
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age;
- Must possess a valid Class B Texas driver's license or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
- Basic Structural Firefighter or higher certification from Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP).
- Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) certification as an EMT or higher.
- National Incident Managment System (NIMS) 100, 200, 700 and 800 or the ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.
- Complete a Texas Commission of Fire Protection Wildland Basic certification within 1 year of employment.
- Pass a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- Have not been convicted of any felonies.
- Have not been convicted of any Class A or B misdemeanors in the previous 7 years.
- Complete hiring process as outlined.
- Background investigation to include employment history, criminal history, driving record and references.
