Fire Employment Opportunities

The Bastrop Fire Department is a combination department responsible for providing fire protection services to over 10,000 residents within the 9 square miles of the city limits.  The Department has 1 fire station that run an average of 1,200 calls annually.  Bastrop Fire Department promotes fire prevention and education, responds to fire, medical and rescue calls.

Recruitment

Assistant Fire Chief / Inspector

Comprehensive Benefits Package:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Basic Firefighter certification from Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP);
  • TCFP Basic Inspector certification (or the ability to obtain within one year of employment);
  • TCFP Fire Investigator certification (or the ability to obtain within one year of employment);
  • TCFP Instructor certification (or the ability to obtain within one year of employment);
  • Fire Marshal certification (or the ability to obtain within one year of employment);
  • Must be able to obtain Head of Department certification from TCFP
  • Required to complete all Incident Command Trainings;
  • Valid Texas Class B Exempt Driver License with an acceptable driving record to be maintained throughout employment;
  • Pass a pre-employment physical, psychological exam, and drug screen;
  • Have not been convicted of any felonies;
  • Have not been convicted of any Class A or B misdemeanors in the previous 7 years;
  • Background investigation to include employment history, criminal history, driving record and references.
