Mr. Schiff served eighteen years on the Bastrop Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors, many as Vice Chairman. Council member Schiff has served on the Bastrop City Council since May 2015.

After being asked by several citizens and prior council members to bring his engineering knowledge and logical thinking to the benefit of Bastrop by sitting on the council, Mr. Schiff decided it was time to serve the city in this capacity. He is also passionate about getting the most value for his tax dollar and wants to see the city operate as efficiently and effectively as possible.

Mr. Schiff  believes that Bastrop is facing unprecedented growth. He hopes that the growth can be done in an intelligent way that allows us to limit the detrimental effects of growth on the charming historic feel of Bastrop.

Mr. Schiff is a music nut.  He enjoys listening to and playing music, especially jazz.  He plays guitar, bass and drums.  He is also passionate about helping people.  He does personal counseling, particularly in the financial and spiritual arenas.
