COVID-19 - (City of Bastrop, Texas) Over the last several weeks, local officials have been in constant communication regarding the continued spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) around the country and now throughout parts of Texas. As more information becomes available and the local impact changes, the City of Bastrop along with local community leaders remain dedicated to safeguarding the public and limiting impact to our community.

If you have symptoms or medical questions, please call the Ascension COVID-19 Medical Hotline at 1-833-978-0649. 
If you have symptoms that place you in the medium to high risk category they will try to return your call within the hour. 
If you are a low risk caller they will return your call within 24 hours.

  • City Officials are staying in touch with our local health authority as well as State and Federal Health Agencies regarding the COVID_19 virus. In doing so, the City has made the difficult decision to close our buildings to the public in an effort to ensure we can continue to offer essential services to our citizens.

    • The building will be closed to the public.

      There will be no change in services provided to citizens.

    • Although the City Hall lobby is closed, the City remains open for conducting essential City business. Staff will be available in all departments to answer questions via email or phone calls. For questions pertaining to essential City business, please call 512-332-8800.

    • Bastrop Convention Center and Exhibit Center will be closed until further notice.

    • The Library will be closed.

      Major cancellations resulting form this are:

      • All Spring Break programming.
      • The Annual Lost Pines Garden Club and Friends of the Bastrop Library Plant and Book Sale, supporting the Library’s Summer Reading Program.
      • Library Board and Friends of the Library meetings scheduled for April.
      • The Library will not be accepting donations of books or other materials at this time.

      Please note that the Library will continue to offer the following services during this time:

      • We will continue to accept book returns through the exterior book drop.
      • We are suspending fine accrual during this time to encourage patrons who are sick to stay home and not return their materials.
      • We will continue to provide reference services, account assistance, and tech support over the phone during our regular open hours.This includes taking payment for fines and fees.
      • Library cards that expire during this time will be automatically renewed for an additional six weeks so that people can continue to access eBooks from home.
      • We will be continue to provide information about our electronic materials and databases so patrons can continue to access the Library from home.
    • Jury Trial for April 2nd is cancelled

      Please note that Municipal Court will continue to accept payments through the following means:

    • Planning & Permitting counter will be closed.

      Development or permitting questions will be accepted via email or phone during regular business hours (M-F, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.).

      Trade permits will be accepted via email and over the phone during regular business hours. 

      All application submittals (planning & permitting) will only be accepted on Mondays in the City Hall Lobby.

    • Lobby is closed.

      All regular field services (Parks & Street Maintenance, work orders, etc.) will still be provided for citizens.

    • The Police Department lobby will be closed.

      The public will be directed to call 512-332-8600 to speak with an Officer or our Records Department.

      Services provided via phone:

      • The Records Department will assist persons in need of reports or records.
      • Officers will be available to assist those that need to file a police report.
      • Minor property crime offenses

      The Drop Box located in our drive-thru at City Hall (1311 Chestnut Street) is a fast and convenient option for making payments after hours. The After Hours Drop Box is for Check & Money Order payments only.
