Criminal Investigation Division
The Criminal Investigations Division (C.I.D.) completes all follow-up investigations on reports initiated and generated by the Patrol Division. C.I.D. also provides investigative assistance to the uniform officers on a twenty-four hour basis by having "on call" Detectives equipped and capable of an immediate on-scene response if requested.

C.I.D. is currently comprised of three Detectives. The Patrol Sergeants are responsible for the review of all incoming cases, decisions on follow-up investigations, as well as case assignments for the detectives.

C.I.D. Detectives are trained in a variety of areas and are capable of conducting investigations that encompass a wide array of criminal activity. After a thorough investigation and casework, Detectives are responsible for bringing closure all open cases, and handle any necessary trial preparation.

Detectives are responsible for processing and maintaining all evidence that is recovered from a crime scene or criminal investigation. C.I.D. has the responsibility of evidence storage, maintaining the "chain of custody", and finally the presentation of the evidence in court.

Additionally, all Detectives are Major Crash Investigators.  Detectives investigate fatal or potentially fatal traffic collisions and follow up on hit-and-run accidents. This unit is staffed by the one call detective who responds as needed to serious collisions.  All are specially trained to calculate the different forces and reactions associated with collisions.
