Meet the Chief of Police

It is truly an honor and privilege to serve the citizens of Bastrop and your department as the Chief of Police and Public Safety Director.  The men and women of the Bastrop Police Department are proud to serve our community.  We recognize that public safety is paramount in a growing community.  We strongly emphasize the community policing philosophy and work closely with the community to reach this goal.


The Bastrop Police Department maintains a high level of integrity while fostering transparency.  We are all stakeholders in the City.  It requires a strong partnership with our citizens in order to effectively police in the 21st century.  Our own values help guide us as a daily compass in delivering good customer service to all we serve.

Chief Adcock has over 23 years in law enforcement.  He began his law enforcement career with the Texas Department of Corrections’ state prison system.  He spent 5 years there before being accepted into the Texas Department of Public Safety trooper academy.  Once he completed the academy he was stationed in Hill and Bosque County where he served the citizens for the next 10 years as a State Trooper.  He then accepted the Chief of Police position in Clifton and served that community for over 6 years before coming to Bastrop.  He has been the Chief of Police for Bastrop since January of 2014. 


Chief Adcock holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice as well as a master’s degree in Criminal Justice Administration, both from Tarleton State University.  He has a master peace officer certification from the State of Texas.  He holds a police instructor certification and has been an instructor at the Hill College Police Academy, Heart of Texas Council of Governments and has traveled around the State instructing law enforcement officers.  Chief Adcock is an accident reconstruction expert, a standardize field sobriety practitioner, and has over 6500 training hours in all areas of law enforcement.  He is also a graduate of the Texas Police Chiefs Association Developing Leaders for TX Law Enforcement.
