Bill Peterson


Bill Peterson grew up in the City of Bastrop and graduated from Mina High School.  He served in the United States Army Security Agency for four years and returned to Bastrop and worked for Sim Gideon Power Plant at Bastrop.  From the power plant, he started work at the Federal Correctional Institution at Bastrop and served there for 24 years and retired as a Facility Manager. As a native Bastropian and life resident, Mr. Peterson’s family history is and always has been a part of Bastrop and Bastrop County.   Now retired he proudly serves on the Bastrop City Council.


Mr. Peterson’s deep roots in the community compelled him to serve. He truly cares about this community and has the drive and desire to serve the people of Bastrop with honesty and integrity.  He wants the citizens of Bastrop to be informed about what is happening at the City, County, State and National levels of government and how it affects them and their families.          


Mr. Peterson is focused on the City's growth and population issues. A public servant that will  help preserve the history of Bastrop as well move toward the future. His goal is to continually upgrade our infrastructure and keep up with maintenance on all utility systems citywide.


In his spare time Mr. Peterson enjoys restoring old cars and trucks and taking them to car shows. You can always find him enjoying the Veteran’s Day Weekend and Blue Flame Cruisers Juneteenth Car Shows.   He also loves riding his motorcycle with his wife and friends.
