YES!!! There is a dress code and we are making extra effort to enforce this code with every court term. Contrary to what you may think, appropriate clothing must be worn when you come to court as a defendant and to serve your jury terms. We do not want to turn anyone away, but because we are determined to help our youthful offenders respect the court, others, and themselves, we will send you away if you come inappropriately dressed. Parents can help with this by instructing your child to dress properly.
DO NOT WEAR Flip-Flops Ragged out jeans/pants/tops Tee shirts with lewd pictures or slogans Concert Shirts Skin-tight, Low-cut tank tops (females) Tank Tops (males) Hats, caps, do-rags Low riding pants (pants must be at your waist) Gang-related colors, outerwear or signs Excessive jewelry -earrings, dog collars, chains, bracelets Wild hair colors Funky nail polish colors No excessive piercings that are visible Skirts that are so short they will not touch your fingertips
Unless shirt is cut for outside wear, all shirts must be worn tucked in.
This is only a partial list of undesirable clothing for attending court.
REMEMBER AS A GENERAL RULE: If you must ask then you should change!
WHEN YOU SERVE YOUR JURY TERMS YOU ARE STILL EXPECTED TO BE IN DRESS CODE.
