Road Closures
Perkins Street
Rubio Contractors has begun the Eskew, Perkins, Higgins and Jones Streets Capital Improvement Project, Rubio will be placing sanitary sewer on Perkins Street beginning at the High 71 frontage road in front of Sonic then proceed north on Perkins to Loop 150, all through traffic will be detoured to Eskew Street until the new sanitary sewer and water line are completed on Perkins (approximately 3 weeks). Once Rubio completes the utilities on Perkins water and sanitary sewer line placement will start on Eskew, Rubio will then detour all through traffic onto Perkins. Once all the utlity trunk lines have been completed Rubio will begin sidewalk placement and reconstruction of the roads. The Perkins, Eskew, Higgins and Jones project is scheduled to be completed January 2009.
South Pecan (Hwy 71 to Chestnut)
Smith Contracting is placing the new water line and sanitary sewer line in the block between Austin and Walnut Street, all through traffic traveling south from Loop 150 will be detoured onto Walnut, all through traffic traveling north from Hwy 71 will be detoured onto Emile. Beginning the week of May 12 – 16 Smith Contracting will be placing utilities in the block between Walnut and Pine Streets, all parking on Pecan Street in this block will be closed for two or three weeks while the utility work is being constructed. All through traffic on Chestnut wanting to travel south on Pecan will be detoured onto Jefferson or Water Streets, All traffic traveling north on Pecan from Hwy 71 will be detoured onto Austin Street.
While the contractor is placing sanitary sewer on Austin the contractor will also be placing the new water line from College to Chestnut on the east side of Pecan. Once the water line is completed the new storm sewer line will be placed on Pecan Street after completing the storm sewer, the contractor will begin the excavation of the road and placing base and asphalt. The contractor is scheduled to be completing the Pecan Project September 2008.
