Snow Day!
at Fisherman's Park

pinecones

Bastrop Snow Day started around 10 am on December 22, 2003.
There was a greater turnout than expected! One picture shows the line waiting to get a chance at the snow. There were approximately 30-50 kids in the snow area at one time. There were around 300 people in attendance for the event.

The sponsors for this event were: Bluebonnet Electric, Southwestern Bell, Insurance Network, First National Bank, J.B. Hoffman, 1st State Bank, Wells Fargo Bank, Derrick Rental, BFI, Lost Pines Bank, City of Bastrop, Parks Department and thanks to the Bastrop Advertiser for getting the information to our residents. Also, thanks to Ice Express for the excellent job in shooting the snow. They shot 28,200 pounds of snow at 30 minute intervals.

The event lasted until around 2:30 pm. We also want to thank the Chamber of Commerce for assisting in getting the word out about the event. Texas Highways, Mr. Stan Williams their photographer, was present to get some good pictures for the article they are doing on Bastrop, which will appear in one of their upcoming editions. A special thanks to our Parks Supervisor, Matt Woerndell, along with Thomas Calvert, Miguel Ochoa, Parks Department employees, and our volunteer, Mrs. Pat Miller.
