Special Olympic Torch Run was Thursday, May 19, 2005.
Law Enforcement officers from all over the State were running
from Houston to San Marcos to bring awareness about children with
special needs and to raise funds for them the participate in the
Special Olympics.
The officers were here in Bastrop
at 2:00 p.m. and were running from the police department located
on Grady Tuck Lane, across the Colorado River Bridge and through
the Central and Historical Districts of Bastrop, before moving
on to San Marcos. The Bastrop Police Department had several
officers running with them and citizens encouraged them as they
ran through Bastrop. The police department escorted the runners
and convoy of police vehicles through town.
