Volunteer Park Ranger Program

The Bastrop Police Department kicked of its Volunteer Park Ranger program on July 14, 2004 after members of our Citizen's Police Academy Alumni Association successfully completed the initial phase of the training program. Volunteer' s received instruction in the areas of how to be a good witness, radio procedures, park rules and regulations, how to handle emergency situations and how to remain safe while on duty as a Volunteer Park Ranger.

These uniformed Volunteer Park Rangers will be patrolling Fisherman' s Park, June Hill Pape River Walk and Bob Bryant Park located in the Riverside Grove subdivision looking for and immediately reporting to patrol officers violations of park rules, criminal mischief and suspicious activity. They will also be available to assist those in need and answer questions park visitors may have about our parks or the community.

The success of reducing crime in our Parks as well as the entire City, comes from the partnership we have with our community, the Police and Citizens working together to find solutions to making our community safer.
