With the completion of the S.H. 71 fly-over,
motor vehicle crashes within  Bastrop’s city limits have declined  significantly.

The most hazardous city intersections are 
S.H, 95 @ S.H, 21, S.H. 71@ S.H. 304, and Jackson St. @ S.H. 71.


Total Citations graph

Total citations show a decline since 2004. (The significant increase from 2003
to 2004 was due to a change in the method for counting citations.

Arrest Trends graph.

Annual Adult Arrests have been in a declining trend since 2002.
Juvenile Arrests, however, have been steadily and significantly increasing.

Crime trends graph

Larceny-Theft constitutes the most frequent major crime occurring in the City. This crime group includes such acts as shoplifting, purse snatching, theft from an auto or building, leaving without paying for gasoline, and burglarizing vending machines.


The Bastrop Police Department investigated more than 2000 cases in 2006, nearly 200 cases more than in 2005.
