Canine Team Created

The Department initiated its first canine program in 10 years on September 1st 2006. Canine Kilo is a white Labrador Retriever. He and his handler, Sgt. Clint Nagy, have teamed up to combat drug related crimes within Bastrop. The duo is a powerful psychological deterrent to lawbreakers, while developing a positive image in the public eye. Kilo and Sgt. Nagy assist other officers in searching building, tracking crime suspects and lost persons, plus narcotics searches. Kilo is also a vital part of the police department’s Crime Impact Team.
The Bastrop Police Department extends a huge thank you to all the organizations that helped raise over $5000 for the purchase and maintenance of Kilo, including Wal-Mart, Tractor Supply, and the Department’s Citizens Police Academy.
