The Bastrop Police Department's Records Unit is the central depository for all information gathered by police personnel. The unit is comprised of two record clerks and a volunteer.

The record clerks are responsible for the data entry of all incident reports, arrest reports, accident reports, storing and gathering of crime statistics, as well as overseeing the open records requests. The records unit is a restricted area.

Sherry Bearry and Diann Gonzalez work to ensure the accuracy of reports and assists the officers in whatever areas they may need.

The Records Unit assists customers (via front lobby walk-ins, phone calls or mail) with request for copies of accident reports, open records requests, and statistical information.

The record clerks also work closely with the courts and District Attorney's office preparing information to be used for prosecution.

Leon Johnson volunteers in the records area three afternoons a week. Eloisa Benitez provides support by maintaining our facility.
