Throughout the year the Police Department, in cooperation with numerous
community and civic organizations, provided security and police
escorts for parades and celebrations. We also coordinated traffic
and assisted with other public safety events. Officers provided
approximately 510 personnel hours for these events.
The largest event to date is still the Bastrop Homecoming. This
event starts on a Thursday evening and goes until Sunday morning,
and requires security for the dances, rodeos, carnival and for the
parade. Off duty officers were compensated individually by the Homecoming
Committee for the majority of this security.
