AN
ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BASTROP, TEXAS AMENDING
SECTION 10.609 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES TO ESTABLISH A NO PARKING
ZONE ON THE NORTH SIDE OF WALNUT STREET, BEGINNING AT THE NORTHEAST
CORNER OF THE INTERSECTION OF PECAN AND WALNUT STREETS, AND EXTENDING
EASTWARD FOR ± 80 LINEAR FEET; DIRECTING THAT SIGNS BE ERECTED
TO REFLECT THIS CHANGE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.
WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Bastrop
recognizes the need to provide safe conditions for those traveling
on public streets within the City; and
WHEREAS,
pursuant to citizen input and information developed by the Police
Department of the City of Bastrop, the Council has determined a need
to control and prohibit parking along the East side of a portion of
Walnut Street as detailed herein below, in the City of Bastrop.
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BASTROP THAT THE
CITY CODE BE AMENDED AS FOLLOWS:
Part 1: Section
10.609 “No Parking on Certain City Streets” of the Code
of Ordinances of the City of Bastrop is hereby amended as follows:
SEC. 10.609 -
No Parking On Certain City Streets
No person shall park a motor vehicle, as that term is defined in the
Texas Transportation Code, Section 501.002(14) in the following area:
Part 2: The City
Manager shall cause parking signs to be erected at such locations,
as are necessary to make this change in the parking zone applicable
to the above referenced portion(s) of Walnut Street.
Part 3: The City
Manager, City Secretary, and Police Department are hereby authorized,
at the City Manger’s discretion, to have signs be posted indicating
that the above referenced zone is a “Towing Zone,” wherein
towing of vehicles may be conducted by the City, if such is necessary
in the opinion of the Chief of Police for proper and effective enforcement
of the No Parking status.
Part 4: The City
Manager and City Secretary are hereby authorized and directed to make
necessary changes to all records of the City of Bastrop to reflect
this amendment.
Part 5: This Ordinance
becomes effective in accordance with the terms and provisions of the
City Charter and State law.
