AN ORDINANCE OF
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BASTROP, TEXAS ADDING SECTION 10.409
TO THE CODE OF ORDINANCES TO RESTRICT LEFT TURNS FROM CHESTNUT STREET
TO ALLEY "A" AND ALLEY "B" AND FROM ALLEY "A"
AND ALLEY "B" ONTO CHESTNUT STREET; DIRECTING THAT SIGNS
BE ERECTED TO REFLECT THIS CHANGE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE
DATE.
WHEREAS,
the City Council of the City of Bastrop recognizes the conditions
for those traveling on public streets within the City.
NOW, THEREFORE,
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNC BASTROP THAT THE CITY CODE BE AMENDED
AS FOLLOWS:
Part 1:
That Section 10.409 to be entitled "Left Turn Restricted on Certain
City Streets and from Certain City Alleys" of the Code of Ordinances
of the City of Bastrop is hereby added as follows:
Sec. 10.409
Left Turn Restricted on Certain City Streets and from Certain
City Alleys.
No person shall
make a left turn in a motor vehicle, as that term is defined
in the Texas Transportation Code, Section 501.002(14) in the
following areas:
1. traveling
east on Chestnut Street onto Alley "A";
2. traveling west on Chestnut Street onto Alley "B";
3.
traveling south on Alley "A" onto Chestnut
Street and;
4. traveling north on Alley "B" onto Chestnut

Part 2:
The City Manager shall cause "No Left Turn" signs to be
erected at such locations necessary to make this change in the parking
zone applicable to the above referenced portion(s) of Chestnut Street,
Alley "A" and Alley "B".
Part 3:
The City Manager and City Secretary are hereby authorized and directed
to make necessary changes to all records of the City of Bastrop to
reflect this amendment.
Part 4: This Ordinance becomes effective in
accordance with the terms and provisions of the City Charter and State
law.
