ORDINANCE NO. 2003-16


AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BASTROP, TEXAS AMENDING SECTION 10.609 OF THE CODE OF ORDINANCES TO ESTABLISH NO PARKING ZONES ON AMERICAN LEGION DRIVE AND ARENA DRIVE; DIRECTING THAT SIGNS BE ERECTED TO REFLECT THIS CHANGE; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

WHEREAS,
the City Council of the City of Bastrop recognizes the need to provide safe conditions for those traveling on public streets within the City; and

WHEREAS, pursuant to citizen input and information developed by the Public Works and Street Departments and the Police Department of the City of Bastrop.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BASTROP THAT THE CITY CODE BE AMENDED AS FOLLOWS:

Part 1: Section 10.609 "No Parking on Certain City Streets" of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Bastrop is hereby amended as follows:

SEC. 10.609 No Parking on Certain City Streets

No person shall park a motor vehicle, as that term is defined in the Texas Transportation Code, Section 501.002(14) in the following areas:

1.-8. (No Change)

9. On either side of American Legion Drive from the point of its intersection with Arena Drive to its intersection with Highway 71.

10. On either side of Arena Drive from its intersection with American Legion Drive at the northern point to its intersection with American Legion Drive at its southern point.

Part 2: The City Manager shall cause "No Parking" signs to be erected at such locations necessary to make this change in the parking zone applicable to the above referenced portion(s) of American Legion Drive and Arena Drive.

Part 3: The City Manager shall cause appropriate signs to be erected at such locations necessary to make this change related to towing vehicles parked in violation of no parking provisions known to the public.

Part 4: The City Manager and City Secretary are hereby authorized and directed to make necessary changes to all records of the City of Bastrop to reflect this amendment.

Part 5: This Ordinance becomes effective in accordance with the terms and provisions of the City Charter and State law.

READ and Acknowledged on First Reading on the 13th day of May 2003.
READ and Adopted on Second Reading on the 27th day of May 2003.
