Cover of the City of Bastrop Flag Contest Calendar.

This unique 15 Month 2005-2006 full color calendar with City of Bastrop Flag designs was created by artists who are Bastrop area citizens. The Bastrop City Council chose one flag to be the official City of Bastrop flag from the finalist entries of our flag design contest. The winning flag is shown on the calendar cover. The calendar has interesting facts about Bastrop history for various days of each month.

About the City of Bastrop Flag Contest:

Nearly 40 entrants competed in the contest to create a design for an official City of Bastrop flag. Finalists were juried by a panel of artists from the Bastrop Fine Arts Guild. The Bastrop City Council voted on the winning selection. This calendar represents the finalists in the contest.

The calendar cover art was the entry chosen by the Bastrop City Council as the design to be used as the official flag for the City of Bastrop:

“Unity for Everyone” by Charles E. Kleinert
(Pencil, Ink, and China Marker)

“I used the date, 1832, which is the historically correct date of the founding of Bastrop, Texas, as Bastrop celebrated its 150th year in 1982. The banner above the lonely pine speaks for itself. The pine symbolizes the lost pines of Texas.”
- Charles Kleinert

A special thanks to Michal Hubbard of the Friends of the Bastrop Public Library and the Bastrop Fine Arts Guild for her production work on the calendar.
