OPEN POSITIONS:

CUSTOMER SERVICE SPECIALIST

 

 The CITY OF BASTROP is accepting applications for the position of Customer Service Specialist.  Employees in this class are responsible for considerable customer contact in person, through correspondence and via telephone through the Utility Department.  Performs work of a clerical nature in processing account payments, address changes, new accounts, and account closures.  Office duties include, but are not limited to typing, filing, production of various reports, and data entry.  Salary $12.00/hr + full benefits.  Position will remain open until filled.  Applicants must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED, supplemented by three to six months of cahier/teller and administrative support experience.  An application and job description may be obtained from the Human Resource Office, 1311 Chestnut Street or on-line at www.cityofbastrop.org

PUBLIC WORKS
EQUIPMENT OPERATOR

The City of Bastrop is accepting applications for the position of Equipment Operator in the Public Works Department.  Under general supervision of the Public Works Foreman, operates medium to heavy equipment in construction, repair and maintenance of City streets and roadways.  Street work includes building roads, sidewalks, curbs and installing drainage systems.  Position provides support in other public works functions, such as special events, maintenance of City Right of Way’s and debris/brush removal, as needed.  Performs related work as directed.  Requires a valid commercial driver’s license, class “B”.  Salary will start at $12.00/hr + full benefits.  Applicants must be 18 years of age and have a high school diploma/GED.  An application and job description may be obtained from the Human Resources Department, 1311 Chestnut Street or on-line at www.cityofbastrop.org.    EOE

PARKS DEPARTMENT
MAINTENANCE WORKER II

The City of Bastrop is accepting applications for a Maintenance Worker II position in the Parks Department.  The beginning salary is $10.88/hr.  Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma, GED, or vocational training; supplemented by six (6) months of grounds maintenance equipment; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  This position requires a valid State ofTexas driver’s license.  This position requires considerable knowledge, skill, and abilities in the use of various types of manual, gas or electrically powered tools, equipment and machinery employed in the maintenance of municipal parks and grounds.  Physical requirements of the job include frequent walking, standing, bending, stooping, working in confined spaces and lifting and carrying of moderate (12-20 pounds) and/or in some instances heavy (20-50 pound) items and occasionally heavier (100 pound plus) items.  This position requires exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as dirt, rain, poison ivy and oak, strong odors and/or smoke, exposure to dust or pollen, heat/cold or extreme weather conditions.  This position requires the ability to follow oral and/or written instructions.  This position also requires the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees and the public.

CITY OF BASTROP
UTILITY SERVICES COORDINATOR

 The City of Bastrop is accepting applications for the position of Utility Services Coordinator.  Under the general supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the Utility Services Coordinator is responsible for supervising the meter reading personnel and overseeing the technical work in the reading and maintenance of water and electric metering devices for the City.  Responsible for maintaining performance benchmarks and evaluations of all meter reading personnel in addition to ensuring meters are read on time and are properly installed, repaired, and replaced.  The Utility Services Coordinator must ensure current technology is being fully utilized and operated proficiently.  This position also requires the ability to follow oral/written instructions and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, fellow employees and the public in a professional and courteous manner at all times.  Must have strong computer skills to supervise essential computer hardware and software functions for meter reading and route determinations.  Applicants must have a valid State of Texas driver’s license.  This position requires exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as dirt, rain, poison ivy and oak, dust/pollen, heat/cold and other extreme weather conditions.  Non-exempt position starting at $13.89/hr + full benefits.  High school diploma or GED; supplemented by previous experience that demonstrates mathematical and mechanical aptitude in water and electric metering functions; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  Position will remain open until filled.  An application and job description may be obtained from the Human Resources Dept., 1311 Chestnut or on-line at www.cityofbastrop.org
