On Monday 11/25/02, Matt Woerndell, City of Bastrop Parks Foreman, traveled to the Evergreen Christmas Tree Farm in Elgin. Tree Farm Owners Beth and Mike Walterscheidt donated trees for Bastrop's Old Iron Bridge. Children from Emile School, kindergarten class, were taking a tour of the farm. The children helped select and cut down the 12 trees for the Riverwalk at Fisherman's Park. The kindergarten classes made decorations for the trees and decorated the trees on Friday, December 6th at 10:00 a.m. Kindergarten Teacher, Norma Longoria has been working with the city to organize the children's participation in this event.
