Always enthusiastic, Mayor Scott
arrived early (6:45 a.m.) to speak to Channel 8 of Austin regarding
our City's honoring of trees. Unfortunately, the Channel 8 crew were
not early risers! Nancy Scott Opened the Ceremony at 2:00 p.m.
and Councilman Terry Sanders read a proclamation confirming April
26th as Bastrop Arbor Day. The City distributed
Arbor Day brochures, buttons, pencils, stickers and pine seedlings until
the supplies and Liz Rye of Public Works were exhausted! On display
were colorful, detailed posters with information about Bastrop parks,
tree facts and care, and organizations dedicated to the environment.
A state wide large tree registry was on hand for those who want to know
where the biggest trees are in Texas.
