DIRECTOR
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY


The City of Bastrop is accepting applications for the position of Director of Information Technology Services.  The position will be under the administrative direction of the City Manager and will be responsible for providing vision and leadership for developing and implementing the city’s information technology initiatives.  Ideal candidate must have outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills with a strong customer service orientation.  Employees in this class have thorough knowledge in all facets of information technology management and administration.  Knowledge of computer networks, personal computers, database design and management, client/server architecture, web development, technology training and other enterprise-wide technology applications.  Candidate will also have the ability to establish strategic partnerships with vendors, service providers and other area governmental organizations.  Assists staff in diagnosing and solving computer equipment hardware problems; and plans and directs the implementation and maintenance of organization-wide system, services, networks data and voice communication .  Assures the assigned areas of responsibility are performed within budget; performs cost control activities; monitors revenues and expenditures; prepares annual budget requests; assures effective and efficient use of budgeted funds, materials, facilities and time.  Requires a Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field.  Salary DOQ + full benefits.  Please submit resume, city application, cover letter and salary requirements to Tanya Cantrell, Human Resource Department, 1311 Chestnut/P. CONVENTION CENTER
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

The City of Bastrop is accepting applications for the position of Administrative Assistant in the Convention Center.  Under the general supervision of the Convention Center Director, the position performs administrative duties in supporting daily functions of a 26, 000 sq. ft. Convention Center in coordinating special events and programs efficiently and effectively to ensure satisfaction for clients, guests and vendors.  Such duties include, but are not necessarily limited to, answering phones, emails, and walk-in inquiries; performs facility tours, and presents facility information to the public.  Employees in this class exercise considerable discretion in matters of a sensitive and confidential nature, while using initiative and creativity; working independently in carrying out recurring assignments.  Prepares, processes and/or distributes financial information and correspondence, including but not limited to:  reports, forms, invoices, purchase orders, receipts, and deposits and other assigned documentation in a timely and professional manner.  Creates and maintains departmental filing systems; conducts a variety of general office duties including data entry, submitting work orders, ordering office supplies, and copying, filing, and faxing documentation.  Ability to work varied work schedules including long and irregular hours, nights, weekends, and holidays, if necessary; and ability to perform effectively in stressful situations.  Applicant must have thorough knowledge of characteristics of a public event facility, service methods and event planning.  Must have extensive knowledge in utilizing word processing, desktop publishing, excel, and other related programs for record keeping and documentation.  Requires an Associate’s Degree or higher from and accredited college or university in hospitality or a community service area, and (3) three years experience in a public facility or other service-focused hospitality position or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Salary:  $13.23/hr + full benefits.  An application and job description may be obtained from the Human Resources Department, 1311 Chestnut Street or on-line at www.cityofbastrop.org.  Submit application to Tanya Cantrell, P. PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR

The City of Bastrop is accepting applications for the position of Director for the Public Works Department.  The position will be under the administrative direction of the City Manager, and is responsible for administration of the Public Works Department.  The Department includes streets, drainage, buildings, grounds, and parks/recreation facilities and operations of the City.  Responsible for directing all maintenance, operation, and construction concerning roadways, bridges, drainage systems, parks and grounds, and related public infrastructure.  Must have thorough knowledge in all facets of public infrastructure construction operation and maintenance, and not only direct operations but may participate in work performed as needed.  Position inspects and monitors operations and projects in process for adherence to established goals and safety objectives.  Performs related work as required.  Must have experience with computer software programs such as Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and the ability to learn and utilize new computer skills as required by the job.  High school diploma or GED; supplemented by minimum ten (10) years experience in the field (of which, as least eight (8) years must have been in a supervisory capacity, with experience in the administrative aspects of the work).  College degree may substitute for a portion of the required experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.  Requires the ability to obtain and maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License.  Salary 69,513 + full benefits.  An application and job description may be obtained from the Human Resource Department at 1311 Chestnut Street or on-line at www.cityofbastrop.org.  Submit resume, letter of intent and city application to Tanya Cantrell (332-8812), P. CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER

The City of Bastrop is seeking a full-time Construction Project Manager.  This position will be under the direction of the Public Works Director.  Successful candidate will possess the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; knowledge of materials, methods, and practices normally involved in construction projects.  Oversees and manages the construction inspection of water, wastewater, street & drainage improvements in the City’s right-of-way.  Ability to manage the inspection of Capital Improvement Program projects, sites and subdivisions inspected from field offices.  Must have contract administration/project inspection skills; ability to prepare reports and correspondence.  Candidate will be able to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with City staff, contractors, elected officials and the public.  Must have outstanding interpersonal and leadership skills with a strong customer service orientation.  Develops, manages, and monitors the division budget.  Requires five (5) + years progressive experience in construction management or relevant field, two of which were in a lead capacity.  Salary $19.54/hr + full benefits.  Requires a valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s license.  ContactTanya Cantrell, Human Resource Department, P.
